Onanya Inonbari has been connected with the energy of Mother Ayahuasca throughout his life. The only son of Onanya Metsayoi and Onanya Kesinbensho, he was born into the Shipibo/Quechua culture in Pucallpa, Peru. Onanya Inonbari’s spiritual path began in his mother's womb; this is where the Shipibo believe that their energy begins to form in the purest sense.
Onanya Inonbari can remember being a small child listening to the Ikaros sung during ceremonies in his family home. His curiosity displayed a keen intuition and deep connection with the energy of his Shipibo culture; the energy of his ancestors whom he affectionately refers to as the abuelos (grandparents) and the energy of the Cosmos. He asked his mother and father what those beautiful songs were, and they answered "Ikaros”. He immediately understood their power.
The Ikaros sung in ceremony hold deep significance in healing. They act as guides to the Onanya, opening interdimensional portals and activating infinite energies. This is where the Onanya can get a better understanding of what needs to be healed and cured within the patient, through the love and light of the Ikaro.
In the Shipibo culture, it is natural to sit with Ayahuasca at a very young age. From the time Inonbari first sat with the medicine his connection with the energies of the abuelos was forged. He began his path to become a spiritual guide. His journey began with many dietas to cleanse his own energy and learn from the energy of the abuelos about the universe, the spiritual path, and how to be in tune with and heal others. Inonbari continued to study through dietas, learning to connect with Mother Tierra (Pachamama or Mother Earth) by forging a deeper connection with the energies of the earth; Mother Water, Grandfather Wind, Father Fire. He uses this knowledge to deeply connect with participants and offer them profound energy healing. He is a respected and sought after Shipibo Onanya, working for different agencies in Cusco and Pucallpa.
Now, with the opening of Ikaro's Spirit, Onanya Inonbari has actualized a lifelong dream of sharing the profound wisdom that the abuelos transmit to him, while also helping to support his family and his Shipibo community. His goal is to open a healing center in his native land of Pucallpa where he can share his culture with all those who wish to experience it. With profound love and humility, he imparts knowledge about ancestral Ayahuasca medicine and the energies of the Universe and Mother Earth. Inonbari looks forward to receiving you with gratitude.
Onanya Metsayoi & Onanya Kesinbensho are the father and mother of Onanya Inonbari.
The story of Metsayoi and Kesinbensho is one of love, inclusivity and acceptance. Kesinbensho being from Shipibo lineage and Metsayoi being from Inca lineage, theirs was a star crossed teenage romance. Metsayoi fell in love not only with Kesinbensho but with the Shipibo culture as well. At the time, it was difficult for an outsider to gain acceptance within the Shipibo community but Metsayoi was determined. He learned the Shipibo language, immersed himself in their teachings and quickly gained favor with Kesinbensho’s mother a well respected Onanya who took him under her wing and led him on his spiritual path.
Kesinbensho was already a midwife and by the age of 20 while Metsayoi was training to be a Shipibo maestro. Kesinbensho spent much of her life working with plant medicine and has assisted many women through difficult natural labor. Metsayoi became specialized in cooking Ayahuasca brews with deep love and attention. He is now considered Shipibo by the community that long ago lovingly embraced him.
The two have 6 children, many grandchildren, and live happily in Pucallpa where their home is open to all.
Metsayoi, whose name translates to Divine Messenger, cooks all the medicine served by Ikaro’s Spirit.
